Kangaroo Study P5 PSLE Math System Class Begins~ Since launching our P6 PSLE Math course last December, we've received many messages from parents requesting an earlier start for P5 classes to help their children prepare for P5 SA2 and gear up for the PSLE. After careful consideration and communication with parents, we are pleased to announce that Kangaroo Study’s P5 PSLE Math System will commence next Saturday, August 17th!
1. Highlights of Kangaroo Study P5 PSLE Math System (1) Cultivating the Habit of "Understanding the What and Why" Kangaroo insists on guided, thought-provoking teaching methods. Through interactive questioning, we ignite students’ interest and curiosity. "At Kangaroo, teaching math is not just about solving problems." We emphasize helping children understand the principles behind the knowledge, teaching them problem-solving methods, and developing their ability to apply knowledge flexibly. (2) Cultivating the Habit of "Leaving No Doubts Behind" We ensure that Kangaroo students "leave class with no unanswered questions" and receive 100% after-class support for any doubts. Every Kangaroo class includes a small quiz to assess students' grasp of the lesson content. Teachers will patiently explain any mistakes, ensure the child fully understands the errors, and only allow them to leave after correcting the mistakes. Whether it’s Kangaroo’s materials, school homework, or other resources, students can approach their teacher for help. Our goal is to eliminate any doubts about math, build confidence in the subject, and gradually help students achieve full marks in SA2 and score AL1 in the PSLE, while also preparing them for future secondary school studies. (3) 100% Coverage of Key Points and Difficult Topics, Ensuring "Study Hard, Test Easy" Kangaroo’s teaching team has developed a syllabus based on a thorough analysis of SA2 key points and difficult topics, ensuring 100% coverage of these areas. When creating lecture notes, we not only select questions from the past three years of SA2 papers but also include more challenging questions on the same topics to ensure that students "study hard and test easy," making it easier to achieve full marks in SA2.
2. P5 Term 3 Learning Content P5 PSLE Term 3 Syllabus | Lesson | | 1 | Chickens and Rabbits Problem & Balance Principle | 2 | Percentage and Ratio Problems | 3 | Profit and Loss Problems & Cyclical Problems | 4 | Speed Problems & Page Number Problems | 5 | Angle Calculation - Folding Problems | 6 | Composite Figures Area Calculation | 7 | Difference Problems & Pattern Recognition Problems | 8 | |
SA2 has four major characteristics: (1) The first-time students are comprehensively tested on the abstract relationships of fractions, percentages, and ratios. (2) The first-time students face the eight major application problems simultaneously. The must-test eight application problems in SA2 are: Average Problems, Page Number Problems, Chickens and Rabbits Problems, Profit and Loss Problems, Sum and Difference Problems, Cyclical Problems, Difference Problems, and Efficiency Problems. Solution: Comprehensive coverage of key points and difficult topics. In Term 3, Lesson 3 focuses on the SA2’s Percentage and Ratio Problems, ensuring a solid grasp of basic concepts. Lessons 1, 3, 4, and 7 cover the eight major application problems, with Kangaroo’s teachers using "Characteristic Analysis Method" to help students not just solve a single problem but tackle the entire category of problems. (3) Angle calculation shifts from simple static assessment to dynamic folding problems. While we usually study angle relationships in regular shapes, SA2 often tests dynamic folding problems. (4) Pattern recognition moves from single to comprehensive assessment. We usually study pattern recognition in single shapes or numbers, but SA2 begins testing how to decompose and analyze multiple shapes, combined with special sequences. Solution: In-depth study combined with exam analysis. In addition to comprehensive learning of must-test knowledge points, based on the analysis of exam situations, term 3, Lesson 5 will cover folding problems in angle calculation, Lesson 7 will focus on pattern recognition, and Lesson 6 will expand on the area calculation of figures, ensuring students master the tested content and aim for full marks in SA2.
3. Instructors
Teacher Ma Zhangchi Graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Murdoch University. Mr. Ma studied Math Olympiad during primary school and won multiple first prizes. Growing up in a family of math teachers, he served as a teaching assistant during university and accumulated rich teaching experience. He mainly teaches PSLE Math, focusing on clear instruction, encouraging active student participation, and guiding students to achieve their full potential in PSLE Math. Class Highlights:
