GEP Prediction Class Recap: Exploring High-Frequency Questions with Tr. Boqian
On Saturday, August 16, Tr. Boqian conducted a GEP Round 1 Question Prediction Class for P3 students at Kangaroo Study.
This session explored high-frequency questions found in GEP Round 1 to support students in their exam preparation, guided by trends observed over the past 5 years.
Lesson Walkthrough
During the lesson, Tr. Boqian shared the question types most commonly found in GEP Round 1 identified from past year papers. High-frequency concepts were covered, along with targeted explanations of mistakes often seen in the mock exams and daily check-in challenge. Step-by-step, he broke down problem-solving approaches and used questions and interaction to guide students in discovering patterns themselves.
This class featured five representative questions covering key and high-frequency concepts, designed to help students deepen their understanding and develop strategies for tackling different question types:
• Question 1. Understand the concept of Fractions. Express shaded regions as a fraction of total, and compare among various fractions. • Question 2. Solve word problems with fractions by drawing models based on multiple relationships. • Question 3. Solve number grid puzzles by ignoring the common number and separating the remaining numbers into equal pairs. • Question 4. Convert figure pattern into number pattern and solve by listing. • Question 5. Identify the common pitfalls in calendar problems by analysing whether the starting day is included.
After going through the example questions, students completed a short quiz. The quiz closely mirrored the in-class examples, serving both as a review and as a baseline to measure speed and accuracy under exam-like conditions.
Following the completion of the quiz, Tr. Boqian immediately went through solutions for the quiz, helping students fill knowledge gaps, consolidate concepts, and sharpen their problem-solving skills. This instant feedback ensured students could clarify doubts right away and remember the most effective strategies.
Overall, the class atmosphere was lively. Students eagerly raised their hands to answer questions and were actively engaged throughout the class, with Tr. Boqian encouraging participation. Many parents were also listening attentively from the side in support of their children; they later noted that the lesson’s fast pace and rich content made it the perfect final push before the GEP exams.
