Math Olympiad Experience Class Recap: Counting Figures with Tr. Smith
On Sunday, August 24, Tr. Smith conducted a Math Olympiad Experience Class for K2 and P1 students at Kangaroo Study.
After last week's Math Olympiad seminar for K2 and P1 students, parents gained a clearer understanding of what the Math Olympiad is about, including how challenging and interesting it is. But how can they tell if their child is suitable for it?
The Math Olympiad Experience Classes were hence designed specially for K2 and P1 students who are interested in trying out what the Math Olympiad is really like. Today's class was the first of 2 short-term classes, focusing on "Counting Figures".
Lesson Walkthrough
Before the lesson started, Tr. Smith conducted a parents' meeting with a brief introduction to the 2 short-term Math Olympiad Experience classes, outlining the overall objectives and highlighting the importance of maintaining good class discipline.
The main lesson then began, structured with two short breaks to keep students energised and focused. Many students were actively engaged throughout the class, with Tr. Smith encouraging participation.
6 representative questions were explained for this week's topic of "Counting Figures". After the lesson, students completed an after-class test, which served as both a review and a way to gauge their grasp of the questions covered.
This was the first class of the Math Olympiad Experience programme, with the next session taking place next Sunday.
The class will follow the following process:
- Before class test for 20 minutes
- Lesson explanation for 2 hours
- After class test for 20 minutes
To ensure that students continue to remember and strengthen the knowledge points learned today, we have also prepared daily practice exercises, which are now available on the Kangaroo App.
