Quick Recap of Our Recent SMO Junior Mock Exam

The 2025 Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) Junior Round 1 is just around the corner!

To help students prepare for this high-stakes competition, Kangaroo Study organised a free SMO mock exam over the weekend. This gave students the chance to experience the exam conditions, build time awareness, and clarify their final revision strategy.

What is SMO and Why Is It Important?
The Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) is one of the most prestigious math competitions in Singapore, organised by the Singapore Mathematical Society.
It tests not just content knowledge, but also logical reasoning, problem-solving, and creativity.
Outstanding students may earn Bronze, Silver, or Honourable Mention awards, and even qualify for national math training teams, opening doors to:
  • DSA applications
  • Special programme admissions
  • Future international math competitions

Why Hold a Mock Exam?
“My child seems okay at home, but can they perform under pressure?”
“They’ve done tons of worksheets, but are they still losing marks in key areas?”
“Only 1 month left, what should we actually focus on now?”

This mock exam was designed to answer exactly these questions.

Students who took part were able to:
  • Experience real exam conditions and practise time management
  • Identify weak spots and error patterns by question type
  • Receive a personalised performance report with targeted feedback
  • Attend a free follow-up lesson to analyse key questions, common mistakes, and final strategies

The paper was carefully crafted by our teaching team based on past SMO Junior Round 1 formats, ensuring the difficulty and structure matched the actual exam.
