June Holiday Class|S1 Math Course Starting Soon
Why does math suddenly become so difficult after entering secondary school?

During the S1 transition, almost every student encounters these 3 common challenges:

1. Too much new content, too fast
Primary school math feels manageable. But once secondary school starts, students face a flood of new concepts. Many haven’t built a solid knowledge structure, and end up overwhelmed topic after topic.
2. Class lessons can’t keep up with exam demands
Parents often wonder, “My child said they understood the lessons but why are their results still poor?”
The truth is, secondary school exams go beyond classroom content. Memorising alone is no longer enough. Students must learn to apply what they know flexibly.
3. One gap leads to a domino effect
Math topics are closely linked. If one concept isn’t understood well, it can derail the entire chapter. Over time, students become confused, lose confidence, and develop a fear of math.

That’s why Kangaroo Study’s S1 Math Programme was designed: To build strong foundations and stretch advanced learners
Step 1 : Build a strong base, face challenges with confidence
Our curriculum includes real secondary school exam questions and entry-level SMO problems. Whether your child is on the O-Level, IP or competition path, we help them build confidence and mastery early on.

Step 2 : Understand deeply—not just memorise
We use a structured “What → Why → How” teaching model. Instead of giving answers directly, we guide students step by step through logical thinking, so they can internalise and apply knowledge independently.

Step 3 : Stay ahead, not stressed
Secondary math moves fast. This course previews Term 3 content, helping students strengthen their foundation while getting exposed to more advanced topics. This ensures a smooth and confident start to the next term.

Since Kangaroo Study has been launched in Singapore, two batches of students have already achieved outstanding SMO results.

Kangaroo Study SMO Achievements – 2023
  • A total of 10 students participated in SMO Junior
  • 100% advanced to Round 2
  • Among them:

    • 6 students ranked Top 30 nationwide
    • 4 students ranked Top 10
    • 5 students were selected for the Junior Training Team

Kangaroo Study SMO Achievements – 2024
  • A total of 19 students participated in SMO Junior
  • 100% advanced to Round 2
  • Among them:

    • 10 students ranked Top 30
    • 3 students ranked Top 10

  • 16 students (which is 84% of the class) were successfully selected for the Junior Training Team

Despite making up less than 1.5% of total national participants, Kangaroo Study students contributed to 25% of Round 2 qualifiers.

Major Breakthrough in the International Math Olympiad (IMO)
  • One of our students was successfully selected to join the 2024 Singapore IMO National Team,
becoming one of only six students across the entire country to be chosen.
  • He went on to achieve a historic result for Singapore, winning the only Gold Medal awarded to the country, and placing 14th in the world overall.

June Holiday Class Arrangements
Flexible scheduling of three periods
To help every student make full use of the holidays, our programme is offered in three separate periods.
The content is the same across all periods, students only need to register for one

The syllabus covers key Term 2 S1 math topics, including:
  • Lines and angles
  • Parallel lines and triangles
  • Quadrilaterals and polygons
  • Area of plane figures
  • Three-dimensional figures

The course helps students fill learning gaps, strengthen conceptual understanding, and build a solid framework for Term 3.

Each period consists of 7 lessons + 1 final assessment, scheduled in the morning, afternoon, or evening depending on class type. This provides flexibility to suit different student schedules.

Class Types to Suit Every Learner
To meet the diverse learning needs of students, Kangaroo Study offers a tiered system of five class types:

Cultivation Class
Strengthen foundational skills to ensure consistent A-grade performance in school exams.
Content is carefully extended in both scope and difficulty to prepare students for upper secondary topics.
Enhancement Class
Reinforce fundamentals while introducing higher-level topics and competition-type questions.
This class focuses on building critical thinking and strategic problem-solving.
Innovation Class
For students already excelling in school math, this class delves deeper into advanced and competition content to unlock their full potential.
It lays the groundwork for success in SMO Round 2 in future years.
Innovation+ Class
A structured competition prep track focused on S1/S2 students aiming to qualify for SMO Junior Round 2 and compete for medal placements.
Exploration Class
An advanced track for high-performing S1 students who aim to not only qualify for SMO Junior Round 2, but also be shortlisted for the Junior Training Team.

Led by Two Experienced Teachers
The S1 math programme is taught by two lead instructors, Teacher Wenlong and Teacher Jeremiah, both of whom have extensive experience and strong track records in guiding students at different levels. They are known for their clear explanations, effective teaching styles, and ability to personalise lessons based on students’ needs.
Teacher Wenlong
Graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University with a major in English. During high school, Teacher Zhang participated in math competitions and received awards. Throughout the university years, he gained extensive teaching experience as a teaching assistant, particularly in mathematics and English.
Teacher Zhang has insights into interacting with children of various age groups. He advocates for guided teaching, encouraging children to think independently and find problem-solving approaches, thus fostering their own logical thinking skills.
Teacher Jeremiah
Graduate of the University at Buffalo, Teacher Ang is a talented and experienced Math education expert, currently serving as the Head of Primary to Secondary School Transition and Teaching Supervisor at Kangaroo Study. He is currently teaching Secondary 1 Classes.
Growing up in Singapore, he has a deep and practical understanding of the local education system and is adept at identifying difficulties commonly faced by students in the various learning stages. Teacher Ang has over one year of private tutoring experience, which helps him identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and develop effective methods to improve on those weak areas.

How To Enroll?
All students are required to complete a placement test before enrolling.
This allows our team to assess the child’s current level and recommend the most suitable class.

Enrolment Process
  • Book a placement test (based on your child’s needs)
  • Receive assessment results and class recommendation
  • Confirm time slot and teacher, complete registration and payment
