Quick Recap of Our PSLE Mock Exam and Parents Seminar
PART 1: Why Organizing this mock exam and host the seminar? The PSLE is just around the corner!
With only four months to go, many students and parents are still feeling uncertain about how to prepare effectively. We’ve been receiving plenty of questions about the exam details and revision strategies. To support our students through this crucial period, the P6 PSLE team at Kangaroo Study, led by Tr. Ma Zhang Chi, hosted a FREE mock exam combined with a parent seminar over the weekend. The mock exam gave students a valuable opportunity to experience real exam conditions, practise time management, and evaluate their current revision progress. At the same time, the seminar provided parents with clearer insights into the PSLE Math syllabus, topic distribution, and exam format. It also offered practical tips on how to support their children in the final stretch leading up to the exams.
PART 2: A Quick Recap of the Day 2:00 PM Students arrived and were guided to the second-floor classroom, where the mock exam began punctually. Teachers were stationed outside to help students find their seats and settle in.
2:20 PM While students sat for the exam, parents proceeded to L3, where the PSLE Parent Seminar was held in the chapel. Tr. Ma, Head of the P6 PSLE Department at Kangaroo Study, opened the session by addressing common concerns from parents:
What is my child’s current standard? How far are they from AL1? What specific difficulties are they facing? And how should they plan the final months before PSLE?
2:25 PM – 3:30 PM The seminar covered four key parts: Understanding the structure and marking of PSLE Math. Detailed analysis of recent PSLE papers and frequently tested topics. A breakdown of the most common student mistakes, both knowledge-based and non-knowledge-based. Practical advice on revision strategy and time management from now till the PSLE.
The session included insights into question types, error patterns, and key exam skills such as identifying keywords, summarising logic, and checking answers effectively. Tr Ma also emphasised the importance of preparing beyond PSLE level using top school prelim papers, and the need to train under timed exam conditions. The seminar was very informative, and many parents were seen taking photos and jotting down notes, eager not to miss any key points.
3:30 PM The seminar ended on a high note. Parents who attended were invited to collect two complimentary booklets at the front desk. One featuring topical PSLE questions for review, and the other containing challenging questions from top school prelim papers to help students prepare beyond the PSLE standard. Many parents stayed behind after the session to speak with Tr Ma in greater detail. They raised follow-up questions, sought personalised advice, and exchanged thoughts with one another. It was clear that everyone walked away with valuable insights and a better sense of direction for the months ahead.
4:50 PM onwards The mock exam ended on time. Parents gathered outside the L2 classrooms to pick up their children. Teachers were there to ensure an orderly dismissal. Marking began immediately. Teachers started reviewing the exam papers and compiling student results. These will be used to generate individual reports, which will be shared with parents over the next few days.
PART 3: What’s Next?
Each student who participated in the mock exam will receive a personalised analysis report. This will include: 1. Overall score and performance breakdown 2. Paper analysis highlighting weaker areas 3. Review of incorrect questions with explanations 4. Targeted revision recommendations based on error patterns
These reports aim to help parents and students identify specific areas for improvement and refine their revision strategy accordingly.
