Semester2|P4 Math Course Starting Soon

Why Parents Choose Kangaroo Study ?
1. Achievement Highlights
After joining Kangaroo Study, our P4 – P6 students have achieved outstanding results in Singapore’s major primary school Math Olympiad competitions.
Many of our students have participated in renowned contests such as NMOS, APMOPS, and RMO, and have performed exceptionally well. In 2023 and 2024, they achieved multiple Gold and Platinum awards, and several advanced to the final rounds, even ranking first nationwide.

2. Trusted by Parents
We are grateful for the continuous positive feedback from parents of our P4 students.
Many have shared their appreciation for our carefully structured curriculum and our teachers’ dedication. Parents often tell us how much their children are enjoying maths lessons now and how noticeably their confidence and results have improved since joining Kangaroo Study.

Key Focus for P4 Math Olympiad Preparation
For P4 students, this stage is not only a starting point but also a key transition that shapes their future competitiveness in Math Olympiad. Since 2024, NMOS is no longer open to P4 students, which means they’ve lost an early opportunity to test themselves. With APMOPS and RMO approaching, strong academic planning is now essential for younger students. Our teachers at Kangaroo Study have observed that many P4 students tend to underestimate the breadth of knowledge tested in NMOS, including:

As shown above, NMOS covers an exceptionally wide range, from arithmetic and geometry to number theory, spanning seven major modules. The scope makes it difficult to prepare effectively through last-minute cramming. Without proper planning and a structured learning system, students are likely to struggle with these foundational topics, affecting their long-term readiness. That’s why P4 is a crucial transition year, where many important Olympiad topics are first introduced.
During our June Holiday Class, we designed a spiral-up curriculum for P4 students that aligns with key trends from NMOS, APMOPS, and RMO. The focus was on two major areas: geometric counting problems involving the Inclusion-Exclusion Principle, which often appear in higher-level Olympiad papers, and high-frequency word problems on fractions, percentages, and ratios. Students learned to identify classic patterns, simplify complex scenarios, and translate ratios into actual quantities. These are all essential skills for tackling challenging Olympiad-style questions.
Next in Semester 2, we’ll build upon what students have learned in the June Holiday Class and take their understanding to the next level. Topics that were previously introduced at a basic level will now be expanded with greater depth and complexity. More importantly, students will not only master the required knowledge but also learn how to think like Olympiad problem solvers. Through topics like Max & Min problems they will develop critical thinking strategies such as extreme-case analysis. Our goal is to help students grasp the underlying principles, apply them with confidence, and ultimately tackle the most difficult problems in Olympiad math.

Teacher Zhang Tao
Graduate of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, resident S-level (highest tier) teacher at Fangtian Education, and Head of Lower Primary at Kangaroo.Study. He is highly familiar with the primary school Olympiad system and the question patterns of major competitions.
Multiple students have won Gold in the Yingchun Cup (equivalent to RMO). In 2023, one of his students scored 21 in AMC8, ranking in the top 1% globally. 75% of his students advanced to GEP Round 2, and 25% were successfully selected for GEP classes. In the 2024 SASMO competition, 87.5% of his students received medals, with 25% winning Gold; 80% advanced to GEP Round 2, and 30% were successfully admitted to GEP classes.
