P5 SA2 Mock Exam Wrap-Up

For most Primary 5 students, the next two weeks will bring their first major exam closely aligned with the PSLE—the P5 SA2.
           
To help students familiarize themselves with the exam format and receive targeted guidance afterward, we held our first free P5 SA2 mock exam on October 17th at 6:00 PM. Students have been studying hard in preparation.
      
(1) Mock Exam Paper Design              
The mock exam papers were carefully designed with reference to last year’s exam questions from various top schools, incorporating frequently tested and commonly challenging question types from nearly 10 schools.  
      
It is worth noting that previous SA2 exams often included challenging "Ratio" questions. However, according to the latest syllabus from the Singapore Ministry of Education, this topic has been moved to Primary 6. Therefore, we adjusted the exam papers accordingly to ensure students are not tested on content they have not yetlearned.

Furthermore, this year's mock exam features significant changes in both timing and paper structure:

Paper 1: The number of MCQ questions has increased by three. The number of short-answer questions has decreased by three, and the remaining ones are now all 2-point questions. The overall difficulty has increased, and the time allocated has been extended by 10 minutes.

Paper 2: The total number of questions has been reduced from 17 to 15, and the time allocated has been shortened by 10 minutes.

Scoring: The total score for Paper 1 has changed from 45 to 50 points, while Paper 2 has changed from 55 to 50 points. The overall exam total remains 100 points.
      
(2) Event Process Recap
Paper 1: 6:00 – 7:10 (1 hour 10 min)
During the exam, students worked independently under strict timekeeping and discipline. The quiet and orderly environment ensured the exam accurately reflected their current academic level.
   
Paper Collection + Break: 7:10 – 7:30 (20 minutes)
Invigilators collected the papers promptly at 7:10 PM, ensuring all answer scripts and student details were properly submitted. Students then had about 10 minutes for a break and returned to the classroom by 7:25 PM for the second paper.
   
Paper 2: 7:30 – 8:50 (1 hour 20 minutes)
The Mathematics Paper 2 was particularly challenging, as students encountered a variety of difficult question types in one sitting for the first time.
   
Exam Ends: 8:50 – 8:55
After the exam concluded, teachers immediately collected the papers and guided students to leave the venue in an orderly manner.
   







(3) Real-time Marking

Right after the exam, our teachers began marking the papers to ensure results and feedback could be delivered to parents as soon as possible.
   


(4) Second Session on Saturday     
Due to high demand and full registration for the first session, we have added an additional mock exam session on Saturday morning. Interested parents are welcome to sign up quickly to help their children prepare for the SA2 Mathematics exam.
