S2 Classes Now Open | Kangaroo Study 2026 Semester 1 Enrollment Guide
1.A-Math is Coming!
In Singapore, all government secondary school students study E-Math (Elementary Mathematics) from Secondary 1 to 4. At the end of Secondary 2, they can choose to take A-Math (Additional Mathematics) as well. Those who take A-Math will study both E-Math and A-Math in Secondary 3 and 4.
One key reason students take A-Math is that it is strongly beneficial — and in the case of junior college, mandatory — for H2 Math, which is required for many STEM-related courses in tertiary education. Beyond admissions, A-Math also serves as an important foundation for future studies, giving students a head start in more advanced mathematics.
What are the differences between E-Math and A-Math?
(1) A-Math: Less Time, More Contents
As clearly shown in the diagram below, E-Math already covers a large amount of content, which has 34 sub topics. Although there is some overlap between E-Math and A-Math, A-Math also includes 17 entirely new topics. Students have only two years to learn all of this, and during those two years, they are still required to study E-Math as well.
(2) A-Math: Same Topic, Much Deeper
In addition to the new topics, E-Math and A-Math share some overlapping topics. However, even for these overlapping areas, A-Math often explores the concepts at a deeper level. For example, the two questions below are both about circles. E-Math focuses on basic geometric properties of circles, while A-Math goes further by expressing these properties using algebraic ways.
Not only for Circles, but as shown in the table below, for shared topics, A-Math often builds upon and extends the concepts learned in E-Math.
(3) Misunderstanding in E-Math, Major Problems in A-Math
As mentioned, some topics in A-Math builds on E-Math topics. If students don’t fully understand E-Math, especially key Secondary 2 topics like quadratic equations and factorisation, they’ll struggle with certain topics in A-Math. The test paper below shows a Secondary 3 student still having trouble with expanding quadratic equations, which highlights this issue.
2. Prepare Well for A-Math, Learn Early, Learn Deeply
Because A-Math covers many new topics but has limited time, the first thing we need to do is to learn early. Only by starting early can students identify which areas they struggle with. This gives them enough time to work through their difficulties, so they won’t feel rushed or overwhelmed in the future.
Since A-Math often tests topics at a deeper level, it’s not just about learning early — it’s also about learning deeply. Students need to not only know what each concept is, but also understand the logic behind it and how it can be extended. This way, they’ll be much more confident and prepared when facing the O-Level exam.
To achieve this, we will make full use of the S2 Semester 1 to thoroughly explore the entire first-half and cover part of the second-half of S2 and build on it with in-depth extensions. This will help students get good results in S2 math and lay a strong foundation for future A-Math learning.
3. Kangaroo Syllabus Guarantees Good Preparation
Below is the syllabus of our 2026 S2 Semester 1 class.
In the holiday programme, we have already covered most of the foundational algebra for Sec 2. Once Sec 2 officially begins, we will further extend this foundation to ensure students can tackle challenging school problems. At the same time, our teaching pace will match or even exceed that of top schools. By completing around 70% of the Sec 2 syllabus before the end of Semester 1, students will have more time to prepare for Additional Mathematics.
4. Kangaroo Teaching Method Ensures Deep Understanding
To ensure deep understanding of each topic, Kangaroo.Study uses our own special teaching method — QPSM (Question, Problem, Solving, Method). This interactive classroom approach guides students through asking questions, analysing problems, and applying solutions, helping them think actively and make the knowledge their own.
Comprehensive Teaching Model and System
・Parent Observation: Each enrolled student can bring one parent into the classroom to observe. Parents can monitor their child's progress, understand course content and pacing, and take notes, provided it does not disrupt the class.
・Refund at Any Time: Students can receive a prorated refund at any time during the course.
・Dual-Teacher Classroom: Each class features one primary teacher and one assistant teacher. The primary teacher delivers lessons while the assistant teacher provides ongoing feedback, tracks student progress, and manages real-time classroom streaming.
・Nine-Step Teaching Method: Guarantees learning results through Before-Class Quiz, Homework Review, Example Problem Explanation, After-Class Quiz, Immediate Corrections, Redoing Example Problems, Question Explanation, After-Class Practice, and Daily Practice. Help students cultivate good learning habits.
・Worksheets with Questions from Top Schools and Competitions: To ensure that students can adapt to the difficulty level of future A-Math studies, our lecture materials are selected from top schools or competitions, guaranteeing that every topic is studied and understood in depth by the students.
・ Daily Practice: Utilising our Kangaroo.Study APP, an online daily practice system where students engage in daily exercises. The app provides data on students’ grasp of different knowledge points and helps organize and review mistakes.
・ Before-Class and After-Class Quizzes: In addition to the 2-hour class, there will be a 20-minute quiz before and after each class. The before-class quiz assesses what we have learnt in the previous class and encourages students to review thoroughly, while the after-class quiz assesses the current lesson's content, urging students to listen attentively in class. Students must correct their mistakes after the class before they can leave, ensuring effective learning.
Regular Personal Learning Progress Reports & Revision Plan for Students
To help children understand their learning status and address issues promptly, teachers will regularly assess their performance. This includes evaluating classroom participation, quiz results, study habits, homework completion, and knowledge mastery. Teachers will provide encouragement and improvement suggestions based on these assessments, helping children refine their skills, develop good study habits, and ensure academic success. In addition, before each exam, the teacher will provide students with a personalized revision plan to help them manage their time and review content effectively, ensuring they are well-prepared for the exam.
Professional and Free Learning Resource
Kangaroo.Study has a professional research team that deeply analyses the exam formats, question types, and knowledge structures of various exams in Singapore. Based on this, we have created many highly targeted and well-organized practice booklets. Each booklet comes with answer keys, and students can ask questions in the study group or message their teachers directly if they need help. For more challenging questions, our teachers have also recorded detailed explanation videos.
5. Introduction of Teachers
