Course Information: P4 Enhancement Class
P4 Enhancement Class: Starting 29th July, every Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Fees: $120 per lesson
The aforementioned topics encompass several essential concepts in P4 Mathematics, which will not only aid students in their in-school PSLE Mathematics but also prepare them for Math Olympiad topics. For instance, Lesson 5, "Equations and Systems of Equations," and Lesson 7, "Word Problems with Fractions," will introduce valuable techniques and tricks to solve word problems, especially the challenging ones in Paper 2 of PSLE. Additionally, Lesson 9, "Exponential Calculations," and Lesson 14, "Math Trick with Decimals," will enhance students' calculation speed for PSLE.
For P4 students taking NMOS next year, this syllabus not only encompasses commonly encountered questions in NMOS, including "River problems," "Chord diagram," "Winning strategies," and "Number grid patterns," but also incorporates numerous valuable mathematical principles that find broad applications in exams like RIPMWC and SMOPS. Throughout this Fall semester, our primary focus will be on nurturing problem-solving abilities and instilling these valuable mathematical ideas in our students. As Kangaroo Study's Fall semester has already started, we will commence Lesson 5, "Equations and Systems of Equations," on 29th July. Any necessary quick revision of the previous four lessons will be provided accordingly.
Course Information: P5 Innovation Class
P5 Innovation Class: Starting 30th July, every Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Fees: $120 per lesson
This syllabus encompasses numerous significant concepts in P5 Mathematics, covering both in-school PSLE Mathematics and Math Olympiad topics. For instance, Lesson 8, "Circles and Sectors," and Lesson 10, "Economic Problems," are frequently featured in the PSLE Mathematics Paper 2. Our emphasis will be on understanding the fundamental principles behind solving these problems in preparation for next year's PSLE Math. Additionally, since PSLE Math Paper 2 includes challenging questions on 3-D shapes that often trouble many students, we will address this topic in advance during Lesson 13, "3-D Shapes."
Furthermore, this syllabus aims to assist P5 students in mastering essential mathematical concepts and ideas, which will prove valuable in their preparation for RIPMWC and SMOPS exams next year. Lessons 6, "Comprehensive Pigeonhole Problems," and 7, "Optimization in Number Puzzles," are frequent questions in SMOPS, as are Lessons 4, "Diophantine Equation," and 15, "Multiple Encounters and Catching-Up." Our approach will not solely focus on techniques and methods, but we will also emphasize the idea of "how to break down difficult questions," empowering students to tackle challenging problems with confidence and efficiency.
As Kangaroo Study's Fall semester has already started, we will commence Lesson 4, "Diophantine Equation," on 29th July. Any necessary quick revision of the previous four lessons will be provided accordingly.
Learning Materials:
1) In-Class Quizzes (before and after class)
Pre-class Quiz: A 20-minute test before each class on the previous week's learning materials to encourage students to review actively outside of class.
Post-class Quiz: A 20-minute test after each class to assess the material covered during the lesson and ensure students attentively listen during class.
2) Homework Practice
To help students reinforce the knowledge learned in class, there will be corresponding exercises for them to complete independently after each lesson. The teacher will provide explanations and go over the exercises before the next week's class. 3) Explain-To-Parents Question:
For key concepts, children must understand the underlying principles. Therefore, after each class, students are required to verbally explain the key problems to their parents, ensuring that they have a thorough understanding of each step. To help children develop a regular habit of review, kangaroo.study's app will provide students with daily practice questions. This ensures that the learned knowledge is not easily forgotten.
