Our S1 students have achieved outstanding outcomes both in school and in math olympiad competitions.

In school weighted assessments, many students have scored high and rank among the top in their class. These achievements reflect the effectiveness of our teaching method in helping students build confidence and mastery in mathematics.  

They have also excelled in Math Olympiad competitions, earning outstanding results in both the 2023 and 2024 Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO). Many secured top ranks and were selected for national training teams. Most impressively, one of our students represented Singapore at the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad, winning the country’s only Gold Medal and ranking 14th in the world.

1 How to Truly Master Secondary School Knowledge?

a. Understand Concepts and Ask “Why”

Students must deeply understand concepts rather than just memorizing formulas. Our lessons are prepared thoroughly to ensure that students discover the answers through interaction.Teachers promote active questioning for each concept. At Kangaroo Study, we use a structured approach—"What is it?" → "Why is it?" → "How to apply it?"—to ensure true comprehension.

b. Apply Knowledge Points to Improve Proficiency

Understanding concepts is not enough; students must apply them through consistent practice. We provide exercises, daily practice, and "explanation homework," where students teach concepts to their parents to reinforce learning.

Schools vary in difficulty, so students should go beyond their textbooks and challenge themselves with advanced problems. Our curriculum includes top school past papers and SMO-level questions to build confidence and readiness for IP/ O-Levels, and a foundation for Math Olympiad.

Learning Early helps students build a strong foundation before school starts. This allows them to focus on advanced topics during the school year instead of struggling with basics.

Led by Two Experienced Teachers

The S1 math programme is taught by two lead instructors, Teacher Wenlong and Teacher Jeremiah, both of whom have extensive experience and strong track records in guiding students at different levels. They are known for their clear explanations, effective teaching styles, and ability to personalise lessons based on students’ needs.

        

Teacher Wenlong

Graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University with a major in English. During high school, Teacher Zhang participated in math competitions and received awards. Throughout the university years, he gained extensive teaching experience as a teaching assistant, particularly in mathematics and English.

Teacher Zhang has insights into interacting with children of various age groups. He advocates for guided teaching, encouraging children to think independently and find problem-solving approaches, thus fostering their own logical thinking skills.

Teacher Jeremiah

Graduate of the University at Buffalo, Teacher Ang is a talented and experienced Math education expert, currently serving as the Head of Primary to Secondary School Transition and Teaching Supervisor at Kangaroo Study. He is currently teaching Secondary 1 Classes.
Growing up in Singapore, he has a deep and practical understanding of the local education system and is adept at identifying difficulties commonly faced by students in the various learning stages. Teacher Ang has over one year of private tutoring experience, which helps him identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and develop effective methods to improve on those weak areas.

All students are required to complete a placement test before enrolling.

This allows our team to assess the child’s current level and recommend the most suitable class.
