P4 Semester 2 Kicks Off with Teacher Ma Zhangchi A Warm Start to the New Semester
This Saturday marked the start of our new P4 Semester 2 term at Kangaroo Study, and students were warmly welcomed into class by Teacher Ma Zhangchi. This week’s lesson began with a quick briefing on classroom expectations—for both students and parents—followed by a highly interactive session. Students were engaged from the start and responded well to Teacher Ma’s energetic and practical teaching style. Carefully prepared worksheets guided the session, and students were encouraged to think through complex problems with clarity and confidence.
About Teacher Ma
Head of the P6 PSLE Department at Kangaroo Study, Teacher Ma is the architect behind the current P5 and P6 PSLE syllabus and teaching materials. Recognized as the fastest-growing teacher in the organization, he combines academic excellence with a passion for nurturing student success. A Computer Science graduate from Murdoch University, Teacher Ma’s foundation in mathematics was forged early. He was a Math Olympiad competitor and multiple first-place awardee during his primary school years. Born into a family of math educators, he began honing his teaching skills as a teaching assistant during his university days. In the classroom, Teacher Ma emphasizes clarity, active engagement, and enthusiasm, ensuring every student is empowered to reach their highest potential in the PSLE Math exam. His dynamic approach and dedication make learning both effective and inspiring.

Parents of our students have consistently given positive feedback for Tr Ma, highlighting how their children’s attitude towards math has changed. Why P4 Matters in Olympiad Preparation
For P4 students, this semester is especially critical. With NMOS no longer open to Primary 4s since 2024, students must now take a more strategic path towards competitions like APMOPS and RMO. P4 is a foundational year where core Olympiad topics are introduced for the first time. Many students tend to underestimate the depth and scope of Olympiad-style problems, which cover everything from geometry to number theory. In the June Holiday Class, students explored advanced problem types such as geometric counting using the Inclusion-Exclusion Principle and high-frequency word problems on fractions and ratios. This Semester 2, we’re taking it further. Previously introduced topics will now be expanded with more depth, and students will begin to learn how to think like Olympiad problem solvers. Through lessons on topics like Max & Min and extreme-case analysis, they’ll develop the tools to approach unfamiliar problems with logic and confidence. How to Enrol
