PSLE Mock Exam Ended Successfully|Witness the Growth of Our Students!

Kangaroo.Study held its PSLE Math Mock Exam — a two-day event which took place on the June 28 & 29. Each session was conducted in a focused and orderly manner, with over 130 Primary 6 students participating enthusiastically. Every session was fully booked!

Why Did We Organise This Mock Exam?
With less than a month left until the PSLE, effective revision must go beyond doing more questions — students need to practise accurately and purposefully. Mock exams serve as a critical step before the real PSLE, ensuring every student walks into the actual exam hall prepared and confident. Here are our three main goals for the mock exam:

Help parents understand their child’s actual performance
Homework and quizzes may not reflect how well a child performs under real exam conditions. The mock exam reveals how students handle time pressure, exam stress, and problem-solving under constraints — things we don’t usually see in class.
Give students real exam experience and build confidence
The entire session followed the official PSLE format — from sign-in, seating, paper distribution to timed sessions — fully simulating the real exam. For many students, this was their first full paper-based exam. Only by experiencing it can they feel less nervous and better prepared for the real PSLE.
Identify knowledge gaps and plan next steps
After the exam, every student received a detailed report with their scores and error breakdowns. These insights serve as a roadmap for the next three months — highlighting weak topics, common mistakes, and key revision areas.

PSLE success is not about last-minute cramming — it’s about long-term strategy and consistent improvement. A well-designed mock exam lays the foundation for that final push.

Exam Day Highlights

On the day of the exam, students arrived 15 minutes early with their parents and entered the exam hall in an orderly fashion. Parents waited outside to cheer them on, creating an atmosphere of both focus and excitement.

Our teachers were present throughout, guiding students through every step — from answer sheet handling to exam instructions. We ensured the experience was as close to the PSLE as possible.

Once the paper began, the hall fell completely silent. Students worked independently, no discussion or distractions, under strict timing. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 proceeded smoothly, giving students a real sense of the pressure and pacing of the actual PSLE.

When the exam ended, scripts were collected quickly and systematically. Many students walked out looking thoughtful — they had just experienced not just a test, but a valuable reflection on their learning journey. For most students, this was their first time completing a full PSLE-style math paper in a formal exam setting — a chance to practise not just content, but also pacing, stamina, and exam mindset.

Exam Analysis

Our academic team began marking immediately after the exam, and each parent received a full performance report including:
1️⃣ Overall performance — showing exam pace and score strategy.
2️⃣ Benchmarking — comparing scores against the cohort to estimate grade-level position.
3️⃣ Weakness identification — spotting common errors and conceptual gaps.
4️⃣ Itemised score report — with every question score and the original paper for review.

Exam Insights:
  • Total candidates: 134
  • Full score (100): 4 students
  • AL1 (90–100): 59 students
  • Average score: 83

Overall, student performance was strong with most students scoring AL1. Even so, quite a substantial portion of students scored within the AL2 to AL3 range. With the right support and sharpening, they have the potential to reach AL1, or even achieve full marks.

Below is a summary of Paper 1 and Paper 2 structure and average scores:

The breakdown of scores for each topic are as follows:

About the Questions:
The majority of questions were adapted from past PSLE and top school prelim papers. While the difficulty was slightly higher than PSLE, all questions remained within syllabus scope, focusing on core concepts and higher-order thinking.

This ensures the mock exam is a realistic gauge of PSLE readiness and a strategic tool for targeted revision.

Error Type Analysis:
1️⃣ Not lack of knowledge — just carelessness
Many students lost marks due to non-conceptual errors: misreading units, skipping steps, or unclear answers. For structured questions, full-step clarity is essential. Students must also learn to save 10 minutes for checking to avoid careless losses.
2️⃣ Topic weaknesses identified
From the radar chart, students performed best  in Decimals, Algebra, and Geometry, but struggled more with Rate & Speed. This should be revision priority in the coming months.

Common Questions Asked by Parents:
1. “This exam seemed difficult. Does a low score mean my child has no hope for PSLE?”
No. The mock exam was designed to be slightly harder — not to discourage, but to expose gaps early. It's better to make mistakes now than during the PSLE. The goal is not perfection but improvement.
2. “Why does my child perform well in practice but poorly in exams?”
Many 11–12-year-olds have never sat a formal exam. Time pressure, anxiety, and lack of experience lead to rushed thinking and mistakes. This mock exam helps them adapt to real exam conditions. Additional pressure from parents can make it worse — support and encouragement work better than criticism.

What’s Next?
This mock exam marks an important milestone in the PSLE journey. We thank every parent for your support and applaud every student who gave their best effort. But exams are only meaningful if they guide future improvement. That’s why we will be hosting an exam paper review and analysis livestream on our YouTube channel "PSLE Math with Kangaroo Study" this Sunday night to help students revise with focus and direction.

Mock exams are not a “report card” — they are a “health check”. They reveal areas to improve, build confidence, and fine-tune strategy. With the right mindset and methods, your child can absolutely succeed in the PSLE!
