The transition from K2 to P1 is a crucial stage. Children face changes and challenges in terms of learning style, daily routine, psychological adjustment, and parental role:
  

   

At the start of primary school, many children and parents may feel relaxed because P1 and P2 coursework seems easy, with few exams, so differences between children are not obvious. However, by P3—with the GEP selection and school streaming—gaps in ability become clear. In reality, differences in learning ability and logical thinking are already formed in P1, but they only become visible by P3.

2. How to ensure a smooth transition to P1?

The Kangaroo Study K2–P1 teaching team has thoroughly researched Singapore’s preschool curriculum, primary school mathematics syllabus, and math enrichment system. Based on this, we have developed a structured program from P1 to P6, focusing on thinking and problem-solving skills. This not only helps children adapt smoothly from K2 to P1 but also builds a solid knowledge and habit foundation for later academic success.

• K2 mathematics emphasizes arithmetic basics.
• P1 mathematics emphasizes application and logic.
Kangaroo Study builds on existing knowledge through five modules—Calculation, Geometry, Word Problems, Counting, and Miscellaneous—deepening children’s spatial awareness and conceptual understanding, strengthening their computational and application skills, and gradually fostering structured thinking and logical reasoning.
