Primary 1 Open Class Recap: Logical Reasoning with Tr. Smith
On 20 October (Sunday), Tr. Smith conducted a Primary 1 Open Class at Kangaroo Study.
This engaging session introduced young learners to the fundamentals of logical reasoning, helping them build a strong foundation for future Math Olympiad learning.
1. Lesson Walkthrough
Teacher Smith started about explaining students what is the meaning of comparison with humorous examples. Which led students to understand the first type of Logical Reasoning. The examples started from comparing three people, to four and eventually students could do questions on 5 people.
After mastering comparison, Tr. Smith moved on to the second type of question — mathematical reasoning. For this, students were guided to draw tables independently based on the given information. The key points let students to differentiate when to draw a Table and When to draw a line.
At the end of the lesson, he summarised all the key points of the lessons. So that students can effectively understand the two types of Math Olympiad questions tested in SASMO competition. Students were then given a short after-class test to strenthen their understanding throughout the session. Tr. Smith also communicated with parents to help them better plan for future study of their children.
