S1 Classes Now Open | Kangaroo Study 2026 Semester 1 Enrollment Guide
1.Not a Small Step, But a Big Leap
(1) No More Training Wheels
In Primary school, students mainly prepare for PSLE, which tests a fixed range of topics using relatively predictable question types. However, once they enter Secondary 1, students face a much faster pace and a broader syllabus.

In fact, many students are surprised to find that the number of subtopics in Secondary 1 is more than double, while the time to learn them is shorter due to more subjects and commitments. On top of that, the thinking and presentation required in Secondary Math is very different from what they are used to in Primary school.

If students don’t adapt quickly, they may fall behind — not because they’re not capable, but because they weren’t prepared for the sudden jump.

(2) Schools Teach Simple, Test Complex
In many schools, lessons focus on teaching the basics — but tests often include questions that are far more complex. Students are expected to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations, multi-step word problems, or algebra-heavy reasoning.

Some schools even expect students to self-learn part of the syllabus through notes or videos. If students haven’t fully grasped the basics or still carry misconceptions from Primary school, they will make the same mistakes over and over — and struggle more as the topics build up.

(3) Without a Strong Foundation, the House Will Crumble
Secondary Math is like a pyramid — each level builds directly on the previous one. If the base isn’t solid, students will face more difficulties as they move up.

Table of S1 Math Topics and Related Future Topics
From the topics alone, we can already observe this pyramid structure — each new concept builds on earlier ones. If a student forms a misconception now, it may not show immediately, but it will snowball over time. By the time it surfaces in more advanced topics, it becomes much harder to fix and may affect their confidence and performance across multiple areas.

2. Excel in WA1&2 and Open the Door to Mathematical Olympiad
As mentioned before, exams are often more challenging than what is taught in school. To do well in Sec 1 assessments, students should go beyond basic understanding and extend each topic further.

In the Kangaroo Learning Centre holiday programmes, we help students build a strong foundation. This allows them to adapt quickly to secondary school and its faster pace. Once they are comfortable, we focus on extension and enrichment.

For each topic, we use challenging problem types for practice. Our materials are selected from top schools and real O-Level questions, helping students develop deeper thinking and prepare for higher-level mathematics.

For students with a strong foundation, they can even challenge themselves with competition-style problems and be exposed to secondary school mathematics competitions in advance.

3. Kangaroo Syllabus Guarantees Good Preparation
Below is the outline of our holiday course and the Semester 1 outline for early next year.

To help students be fully prepared for every school test, we not only explore each topic in depth but also maintain a teaching pace faster than the school’s.

Below is a comparison between the main topics covered in most schools’ tests and Kangaroo Learning Centre’s teaching schedule.

WA Topics and When They’re Covered at Kangaroo. Study
In the first semester, we cover all the foundational knowledge for WA1 and WA2. This ensures students start the year strong and are well prepared for Sec 1 and future studies, including Additional Mathematics.

4. Kangaroo Teaching Method Ensures Deep Understanding
To ensure deep understanding of each topic, Kangaroo.Study uses our own special teaching method — QPSM (Question, Problem, Solving, Method). This interactive classroom approach guides students through asking questions, analysing problems, and applying solutions, helping them think actively and make the knowledge their own.

Comprehensive Teaching Model and System
Parent Observation: Each enrolled student can bring one parent into the classroom to observe. Parents can monitor their child's progress, understand course content and pacing, and take notes, provided it does not disrupt the class.
Refund at Any Time: Students can receive a prorated refund at any time during the course.
10.png
Dual-Teacher Classroom: Each class features one primary teacher and one assistant teacher. The primary teacher delivers lessons while the assistant teacher provides ongoing feedback, tracks student progress, and manages real-time classroom streaming.
Nine-Step Teaching Method: Guarantees learning results through Before-Class Quiz, Homework Review, Example Problem Explanation, After-Class Quiz, Immediate Corrections, Redoing Example Problems, Question Explanation, After-Class Practice, and Daily Practice. Help students cultivate good learning habits.
Worksheets with Questions from Top Schools and Competitions: To ensure that students can adapt to the difficulty level of future A-Math studies, our lecture materials are selected from top schools or competitions, guaranteeing that every topic is studied and understood in depth by the students.
11.png
Daily Practice: Utilising our Kangaroo.Study APP, an online daily practice system where students engage in daily exercises. The app provides data on students’ grasp of different knowledge points and helps organize and review mistakes.
12.jpeg
Before-Class and After-Class Quizzes: In addition to the 2-hour class, there will be a 20-minute quiz before and after each class. The before-class quiz assesses what we have learnt in the previous class and encourages students to review thoroughly, while the after-class quiz assesses the current lesson's content, urging students to listen attentively in class. Students must correct their mistakes after the class before they can leave, ensuring effective learning.

Regular Personal Learning Progress Reports & Revision Plan for Students
To help children understand their learning status and address issues promptly, teachers will regularly assess their performance. This includes evaluating classroom participation, quiz results, study habits, homework completion, and knowledge mastery. Teachers will provide encouragement and improvement suggestions based on these assessments, helping children refine their skills, develop good study habits, and ensure academic success. In addition, before each exam, the teacher will provide students with a personalized revision plan to help them manage their time and review content effectively, ensuring they are well-prepared for the exam.

Professional and Free Learning Resources
Kangaroo.Study has a professional research team that deeply analyses the exam formats, question types, and knowledge structures of various exams in Singapore. Based on this, we have created many highly targeted and well-organized practice booklets. Each booklet comes with answer keys, and students can ask questions in the study group or message their teachers directly if they need help. For more challenging questions, our teachers have also recorded detailed explanation videos.
