P6 to S1 Exploration Course
I. Achievements of Kangaroo.Study
The Exploration Course is designed for Secondary Math Competitions such as SMO(Singapore Mathematical Olympiad). Since its inception, it has achieved outstanding results.
2023 SMO Junior (first cohort of students of Kangaroo.Study):
10 students from Exploration Class participated, 100% advanced to Round 2, 10 students won gold medals, 6 students ranked in the Top 30, 4 students ranked in the Top 10, and 5 students were selected for the Junior Training Team.
2024SMO Junior (second cohort of students of Kangaroo.Study):
19 students from the Exploration Class participated in the Junior SMO, with a 100% advancement rate to Round 2. Remarkably, the 5th question in Round 2 was an exact match with a problem from the holiday course materials. 10 students ranked in the Top 30, with 3 students in the Top 10; 16 students (84% of all participants) qualified for the Junior Training Team.
Yang Yihan (student from Exploration Class):
After rigorous selection by the Nations Training Team, Yang Yihan, a S4 student, was selected the 2024 IMO Singapore Team (6 students in total) and ultimately won the only gold medal for the Singapore team at the IMO and ranked 14th in the world.

II. Secondary Exploration Class Learning Plan

The first competition for secondary students is SMO Junior at the end of May 2025, with nearly 4,000 participants (S1 and S2). Only about 100 to 120 students will advance to theRound 2, with an expected 60 gold medals awarded. The top 30 participants will receive individual awards, making for a highly competitive environment.

With only 7 months remaining before the exam, the topics covered are extensive and challenging. The first round consists of 25 questions (1 point each, no working required), focusing on algebraic transformations, equations, inequalities, functions, as well as geometric concepts such as congruence and similarity, all of which require a solid foundation in primary math Olympiad skills.

The second round consists of 5 questions (10 points each, working required) and presents a significant increase in difficulty, covering fundamental inequalities, geometric proofs, and challenging problems in combinatorics and number theory (many students advancing to the second round struggle to solve even one question).

Therefore, learning in advance is key to achieving good results in S1.
Kangaroo Exploration Course will begin preparing students for math competitions during the holiday, covering all the knowledge required for the SMO Junior before May 2025. This will help students establish a comprehensive knowledge system and complete their revision to ensure proficiency.

The main content of the holiday course includes algebraic transformation skills and fundamental methods used in secondary competitions (such as construction methods, recursion and induction, and the concept of reduction). It will cover polynomial, rational, radical, and higher-order equations, as well as optimization problems at the Senior and Open levels, providing a solid foundation for students participating in the Open group.

Some students have already learned some content related to secondary math Olympiads, but the depth and systematic nature of their learning may still be insufficient. The holiday course presents an excellent opportunity to help students organize and reinforce their knowledge systematically.
If you have any questions regarding secondary school mathematics learning, please contact Teacher Gao at +86 80398242 to schedule a secondary competition assessment.

※ Gold Medal Coach for the China Mathematical Olympiad.
※ In 2016, led the team to participate in the Cross-Strait Elite Competition, achieving 6th place among 86 teams from both international and domestic representatives, marking the best result in Anhui Province's history.
Over 50 students have won provincial first prizes in the Chinese High School Mathematics League, with hundreds earning gold medals in various primary and secondary school math Olympiad competitions. In 2021, 7 out of the 14 members of the Anhui Province CMO team were trained by him.
※ Currently a coach for the Kangaroo.study competition class. In 2023, student Deng was selected for the ISMO national team, while students Wang and Mao were chosen for the Singapore Senior Training Team. In the S2 Exploration Class, all 10 students advanced to the second round of the SMO, with 6 ranking in the Top 30, 4 in the Top 10, and 5 qualifying for the Junior Training Team.
※ In the SMO Junior 2024, a total of 19 students participated, all advancing to the second round, with 10 in the Top 30, 3 in the Top 10, and 16 qualifying for the Junior Training Team.
※ Student Yang Yihan from S4 was selected for the Singapore IMO team of 6 members and won Singapore's only gold medal at the 65th IMO, ranking 14th in the world.
