Key Time Points to Note Before Entering Secondary 1

I. In mid-October, gather information about various secondary schools and choose the preferred ones.

1. Discuss school options with your child, considering factors such as academic performance, strengths, and interests.

2. The MOE website has a search tool that allows you to quickly filter schools based on cutoff score, location, available classes, and CCA, providing the fastest way to access basic information about each school. MOE School Finder

II. October 21–25, 3:00 PM: DSA School Selection

1. Parents who have received CO and WL should choose up to 3 school choices in order of preference using the DSA-Sec Portal by 3pm on Friday, 25 October 2024.

2. If your child is successfully admitted to a school through DSA-Sec, they will not be allowed to participate in S1 Posting. They will also not be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of their PSLE results.

3. If you wish to change your secondary school choice through the PSLE results, you can decline the DSA offer by not submitting any school preferences, which will be considered an automatic withdrawal. (Some parents have shared that without the DSA, their child could have entered a better school based on PSLE results. If your child performs better than expected in the PSLE, this option may be worth considering. However, it is recommended to carefully weigh the estimated scores and previous years' cutoff score before making a decision.)

III. Early November – School Selection Week: Online/Offline Open House Events for various schools (schedule not yet announced).
1. Pay attention to the open day information released on the official websites of each school and shared in the Kangaroo. Study’s learning group. Last year's open day time is attached at the end of this article for your reference. Once this year's schedule is confirmed, Kangaroo. Study will track and share it with you in real time.

2. Discuss with your child and arrange the schools that need to be visited.
3. Decide on your preferred school

IV. On November 16th, from 18:00 to 19:00, Kangaroo.Study PSLE ​​application and school selection guidance public lecture
        It will be broadcast live on Youtube, so you can follow our Youtube channel in advance.

V. (Tentative) November 20th to 22nd: PSLE results announced at 11:00am + DSA school posting results received + application starts at 11:30am

1. Collect your PSLE ​​results, S1 Option Form and Eligibility Letter at your school.

2. Based on your PSLE ​​results and previous knowledge of schools, discuss and decide on your final choice (you can fill in 6 schools, pay attention to the filling strategy. Every year, there are parents who are too aggressive in the first few choices, thus wasting opportunities. We will explain the filling strategy to you at the lecture.)

3. Students who have been confirmed admitted by DSA cannot reselect their school, but can fill in the third language option.

4. Don’t miss the last chance to fill in your application form. The application will end at 15:00 on the seventh day after the results are announced.

VI. December 18th~20th. School posting results announced

1.  Log in to the S1-IS using your child's Birth Certificate number/FIN, and S1 PIN, to view your child's posting results.

Note: The S1 PIN is the unique password which you had used for submitting the school choices. It can be found at the top right-hand corner of the S1 Option Form.

2. If you had indicated your mobile number during the earlier submission of school choices through S1-IS, you will receive an SMS on your child’s posting.

3. Check posting results through school.

VII. After the posting results are announced in December

1. Check the school website to find out about your school's follow-up arrangements and activities.

2. Make preparations for the new school, such as purchasing new uniforms and textbooks.
