The P5 Term 4 Holiday Course Wrap-Up: Recap and Classroom Highlights
The P5 Term 4 holiday course, which kicked off on 16 November 2024, has come to an end today! Unlike earlier sessions, the last lesson focused on reviewing key math concepts covered throughout the course and completing the end-of-term exam.
The 10-lesson holiday course was designed to prepare students for PSLE math success by introducing the P6 concepts early, helping them master all the P6 concepts ahead of time, and laying a strong foundation for effective revision. Guided by Teacher Ma, who concluded his sessions on 26 November, and Teacher Smith, who wrapped up on 28 November, the course offered a structured approach to preparing our students for PSLE excellence.
How Was the End-Term Class Conducted? 1. Pre-exam Review: Before the exam, the teachers conducted a session to review key concepts covered over the 10 lessons of the course.
2. Final Exam: After the pre-exam review session, students took the 60-minute end-of-term exam which focused on the core topics studied during the term.
3. Grading & Exam Review: The teachers promptly graded the exam papers after the exam, calculating scores and verifying the results to ensure accuracy. Based on the exam results, the teachers held a session to review and discuss the exam questions with the students. 4. Award & Photo Session:
Lastly, prizes were awarded to the top three performers in the exam. Additionally, students also received collectible cards for every three correct answers they achieved. These cards can be redeemed for various prizes once a specified number of cards is collected.
5. Personalized Exam Review and Feedback Sessions: After the final lesson, teachers held one-on-one feedback sessions with each student or their parents via WhatsApp/WeChat to review their exam papers and provide tailored feedback. The teachers carefully analyzed each student’s paper, highlighting errors and clarifying misconceptions. Through personalized feedback provided during one-on-one sessions, students gained a deeper understanding of the concepts and practical strategies to enhance their math skills for future assessments. This step ensured a thorough learning experience tailored to each student’s needs.
Closing Remarks:
The final lesson of each course requires significantly more effort from our teachers than a regular two-hour class as it includes a comprehensive review and end-term exam. Only by meticulously managing every lesson of our courses can we honor the trust of parents and ensure that every child at Kangaroo.Study gains meaningful knowledge and skills. As we conclude the P5 Term 4 course with great success, we now look forward to embarking on the exciting journey of the P6 Term 1 course! Find the P6-T1 syllabus and information below!
Our Teaching Philosophy:
- Guiding, Not Pushing: We encourage students to discover solutions independently rather than providing direct answers. - Without understanding, No Leaving: We require students to complete and understand corrections for both pre-class and post-class tests. The teachers remain available after class to address questions and clarify doubts. - Sense of Achievement: We approach mistakes with understanding and place blame or question a student’s abilities. We cultivate a passion for learning by providing consistent encouragement and positive reinforcement. Unique Features of Our Courses:
- Parent Observation: Each enrolled student may bring one parent to sit in on the class. Parents can observe their child’s learning, understand the course content and progress, and take notes, as long as they do not disrupt the class. - Flexible Refund Policy: Refunds can be requested at any time during the course, calculated on a proportional basis. - Dual-Teacher Classroom: Each class is led by one main instructor and supported by a teaching assistant. While the instructor conducts the lesson, the teaching assistant provides learning support, tracks student progress, and facilitates live classroom broadcasts.

A Closer Look Into Our P6-T1 Holiday Course Syllabus:
The P6-T1 course in January 2025 will build upon the foundation established in the P5-T4 syllabus, focusing on advancing students’ mathematical knowledge while reinforcing core skills learned. While the P5-T4 course emphasizes mastering fundamental concepts such as fractions, percentages, algebra, and geometry, the P6-T1 curriculum progresses to more complex topics like intermediate and advanced geometry (circles, sectors, triangles, 3D shapes), strategy-based problem-solving (patterns, differences, discount word problems), and higher-order calculations (intermediate ratio problems, advanced travel problems, and angle calculations).
