Teacher Yi Jie’s first P4 Olympiad Math Class: Leading You into a New Stage of Thinking!

This Sunday, Kangaroo Study kicked off the very first class of Teacher Yi Jie’s P4 Olympiad Math Semester 2 class~

This week’s lesson began with a brief overview of classroom expectations, shared with both students and parents, setting a positive tone for the term ahead.

From the very start, students were actively engaged and responded enthusiastically to Tr Yi Jie’s dynamic and hands-on teaching approach. With thoughtfully prepared worksheets, the session encouraged students to tackle complex problems with clarity, confidence, and critical thinking.

Handouts prepared by Tr Yi Jie not only inspired everyone’s enthusiasm for thinking but also guided the students to courageously tackle various challenging problems with clear reasoning, confident attitudes, and critical thinking.

After the class test ended, a small number of students took the initiative to ask Tr Yi Jie questions about the concepts they found challenging. Seizing this opportunity, the teacher gave detailed explanations of the commonly confused topics and conducted an in-depth analysis of shared difficulties, helping them to further grasp the key knowledge points.

                                                      

About Teacher Yi Jie

                                                   

Graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia with a major in Applied Statistics, Tr Yi Jie brings both strong subject knowledge and a deep passion for teaching. With two yearsof experience, he has a unique ability to break down complex ideas and turnthem into something relatable for students. His calm, encouraging teaching style helps students feel safe to ask questions, try new things, and develop agenuine love for learning.

Why P4 Matters in Olympiad Preparation

  

For P4 students, this is a foundational year where core Olympiad topics are introducedfor the first time. Many students tend to underestimate the depth and scope ofOlympiad-style problems, which cover everything from geometry to number theory.That’s why Kangaroo Study has designed a step-by-step curriculum that prepares them not just for school exams, but for long-term success.

  

In the past June Holiday Class, students explored advanced problem types such as geometric counting using the Inclusion-Exclusion Principle and high-frequency word problems on fractions and ratios. This Semester 2, we’re taking it further. Previously introduced topics will now be expanded with more depth, andstudents will begin to learn how to think like Olympiad problem solvers.Through lessons on topics like Max & Min and extreme-case analysis, they’lldevelop the tools to approach unfamiliar problems with logic and confidence.
