Singapore’s Only P6–Sec1 Math Adaptability Test  | Assess Sec Math & MO Readiness

   
With the conclusion of PSLE, many parents begin to wonder what lies ahead in secondary school, especially for Mathematics:

“Why do students who achieve AL1 in PSLE Math face a drop in grades when it comes to Secondary School?”

“Is my child suited for Math Olympiad (MO) competitions?”

To assess students’ readiness for Secondary Math and potential for MO, Kangaroo Study conducted a P6–S1 Secondary Math Adaptability Test on October 5.

Key Features of the Adaptability Test

1. One Test, Two Options
This year’s Adaptability Test was designed to assess both academic readiness and competition potential through two paper options:

Option 1: Secondary Math Adaptability Test
Evaluates students’ grasp of three key mathematical abilities found to have the strongest correlation with long-term math performance.
Option 2: Secondary Math Adaptability + Math Olympiad Potential Test
Builds on Option 1, with a second paper that extends into Olympiad-level reasoning and problem-solving to identify students with aptitude for higher-order mathematical thinking.

2. Matching The Right Pace
The Adaptability Test is not just an assessment — it also determines the most suitable course pathway for every student.

Kangaroo Study’s Secondary Mathematics Programme begins during the 2025 year-end holidays and includes:

• Cultivation, Enhancement, and Innovation Classes for strengthening school and O/A-Level math foundations;
• Inspiration and Exploration Classes for developing Olympiad excellence.
  

This test results serve as the admission basis for new students and promotion criteria for current students. Students aspiring to join the Olympiad stream (Inspiration/Exploration) are required to take Option 2 and meet the qualifying score.

Adaptability Test Recap

1. Test in Progress
Students remained focused throughout, completing their papers independently under quiet, disciplined conditions.

When time was up, teachers collected the papers efficiently, and students were seen discussing the paper while exiting the classrooms.

2. Parent Q&A
Several parents even stayed back after the test to speak with our teachers, seeking advice on their child’s learning progress and to learn more about Kangaroo Study’s courses.

3. Immediate Marking of Papers
After the last Adaptability Test session of the day, our teachers started grading the papers immediately to ensure that results and feedback can be distributed back to students as soon as possible.

4. Personalised Analysis Report
Each student will receive a personalised analysis report after the test.

Beyond accuracy and conceptual mastery, the report also included feedback on learning habits such as handwriting, presentation, and answering discipline — elements often more crucial than knowledge alone.

5. Student and Parent Feedback
Parents praised this event for its organisation and efficiency, pointing out how this test helped them better understand their child’s readiness for secondary math and the areas that need attention before next year begins.

1. Adaptability Test on October 11
