On 11th October (Saturday) Tr. Ma conducted a P5 Workshop on “Complex Geometry - paper folding” at Kangaroo Study.
Starting from the Grade 5 SA2 examination, students are no longer limited to static geometry problems but will also encounter dynamic folding problems. The main challenge in geometry lies in identifying angle relationships, but when it comes to folding, children need strong spatial visualization skills to solve such questions. In this lesson, we will use four problems of varying difficulty and focus areas to help students master folding problems and secure their marks.
1.Lesson Walkthrough
Before the class started, students checked in and took their seats one after another. All those who arrived early were directed to sit in the front rows.
At the beginning of class, students were actively engaged, responding enthusiastically to Tr. Ma’s dynamic and hands-on approach. The classroom atmosphere was both focused and encouraging, allowing students to gain confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
Many parents also participated in the class, quietly listening to the lecture and observing the students from the back of the classroom.
The worksheets are thoughtfully designed by Tr. Ma which including 4 different type of paper folding questions, and even prepare some extra challenging questions for those student who finished early.
After Teacher Ma's example explanation, the students actively attempted the exercises and quietly raised their hands to wait for the teacher's review.
When some students showed great initiative by approaching Tr. Ma with additional questions. He took time to explain tricky concepts in detail, helping them strengthen their understanding.
Tr. Ma connected with parents, sharing insights about the lesson and addressing their queries. This open exchange created a supportive bridge between classroom learning and home reinforcement.
