PSLE Mock Exam and Parents' Seminar Recap!
01 Purpose Behind the Event
To better support Primary 5 students in their PSLE journey, Kangaroo Study organised a free PSLE Mock Exam designed to simulate the actual examination experience this Saturday. This gives students an early opportunity to familiarise themselves with the rigour and format of the national exam, and to identify key areas for improvement before entering Primary 6.
While students were taking the mock exam, a Parents' Seminar was also held, aimed at helping parents understand the common challenges students face during PSLE preparation, effective strategies to overcome them, and how to plan the coming year with greater confidence and clarity.
02 Event Recap
09:00AM Start of Mock Exam Students arrived punctually, and our teachers were stationed to help them find their seats and settle in comfortably before the paper began. The Mock Exam commenced on time.
09:20AM Start of Seminar Meanwhile, parents made their way to our venue at Level 8, where our Parents' Seminar started shortly after the commencement of the Mock Exam. The session was conducted by Tr Wenlong, Head of the Secondary Department of Kangaroo Study. During the seminar, he addressed a few key questions on every P5 parent's mind:
How well is my child performing right now? What would it take for them to reach AL1? What are some difficulties students face and how to solve them? How can we make the most of the upcoming months before PSLE?
The seminar covered 4 key sections: 1 Basic Information about PSLE Math: Mark Breakdown and Primary Math Knowledge System 2 PSLE Paper Analysis: Topical Analysis and High Frequency Topics 3 How to Get AL1 Smoothly: Major Problems Faced and Targeted Solutions 4 Arrangement before PSLE: Revision and Practice Plans
The session shared detailed paper analyses from the past 3 years, question breakdowns, and key exam skills such as highlighting keywords, penning down steps instead of relying on mental calculations, and checking answers effectively by redoing every calculation. Many parents were eagerly taking photos and jotting down notes, not wanting to miss out on any information.
10:20AM End of Seminar With the conclusion of the seminar, parents were invited to collect a complimentary book [PSLE Math 329 Compulsory Questions]. This book includes precise key-points analysis and comprises of both topical questions and Mock Papers, designed to guide students in their preparation for PSLE.
Following the session, many parents stayed back to talk with Tr. Wenlong, raising follow-up questions and seeking tailored advice. The exchange of ideas created a meaningful dialogue, leaving everyone with deeper understanding and renewed clarity on how to support their children in the coming months.
11:50AM End of Mock Exam The Mock Exam ended after a total of 2h 50min. Our teachers ensured a prompt collection of papers and dismissal of students. After the collection of papers, our teachers immediately started marking!
